Civic Art: Four Stories from South Los Angeles is a feature-length documentary commissioned by the Los Angeles County Arts Board.
Synopsis
The film highlights the vital, complicated and often misunderstood efforts behind artwork made with and for the public that often prompts questions such as: ‘Why is that there?’, ‘Who made that?’ and ‘Am I paying for it?’ The answers are both surprising and illuminating.
It was included in the Reimagine Public Art exhibition from the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs and was featured in the Curatorial Showcase called House and Home.
The film played in competition at the Milwaukee Film Festival and has screened many times in the Los Angeles area.
